Fairly good. The place was amazing, bigger and more imposing than I thought and the town was quite cute. The only bad thing was not being able to visit the main entrance of St. George's Chapel and the place where Elizabeth II is buried... Quite a bit in the background.

Why Visit Windsor Castle?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their wedding in this spectacular castle, occupying the front pages of newspapers from around the globe. Thousands of tourists flocked to Windsor to visit the location of the last royal wedding, but the truth is that the castle conceals a lot more…

We recommend beginning your tour of the Queen’s favourite weekend home by exploring The Savill and Valley Gardens, each with its distinctive feel. With the Thames flowing nearby and over 1000 acres, this is a natural haven packed with flowers and trees. If you look hard enough, you might even see deer!

Once inside the castle, the State Apartments will amaze you. With intricate paintings covering the ceilings, you will head to Queen’s Mary Dolls’ House (currently closed to visitors).

Depending on the day of the visit, we'll watch the Change of Guard at St. George’s Chapel and explore its interior. Its Gothic architecture differentiates it tremendously from other traditional chapels. Take a peek at its high ceilings and flags and you’ll instantly be transported to the period of Henry VIII.

Opening Times

Windsor Castle is open at the following times:

  • March – October: Thursday to Monday from 10 am – 5:30 pm (last entry at 4 pm)
  • November – February: Thursday to Monday from 10 am – 4:15 pm (last entry at 3 pm)

Itinerary Adjustments

  • St George’s Chapel is usually closed to visitors on Sundays. It is also currently closed every day of the week.
  • As Windsor Castle is a functioning Royal Palace it may on occasion be closed on short notice due to events such as state ceremonies and maintenance works.
  • Please keep in mind that the Changes of the Gaurd at Saint George's Chapel only take place on Thursday and Saturday at 11 am.
