At the agreed time, we'll meet at the port of Nazare, where we'll be waiting for you to start our tour of the bay of Nazaré and tell you all about the incredible phenomenon that causes the giant waves in this area of Portugal.
Next to this small fishing village, we'll find the canyon of Nazare, the largest underwater gorge in Europe. It has an extension of 230 kilometers and a depth of 5000 meters. Its enormous ravine and its proximity to the coast is the reason for the formation of giant waves, considered the largest in the world.
This phenomenon makes this location an ideal spot for surfing. In fact, some famous surfers like the Hawaiian Garret McNamara have broken world records thanks to the waves of Nazare.
Next, it'll be your turn to experience surfing these waves. We'll board a speedboat operated by a professional to admire the intensity of these famous waves up close in a completely safe way.
After our one-hour sea adventure, we'll end this experience and the starting point.
