Argüeso Guided Tour

  • 14 reviews | 225 travellers
Spectacular setting, everything as it was lived at that time, and everything done as it was done at that time. Spectacular explanation, because the girl in charge of it, did not repair to explain everything that was done in the area. Access by highway CA-183 to Paracuelles and then to Argüeso. Ignore GPS, whatever the application used, throw it out there, because GPS takes you on dirt roads. Access to the town, or 2 km on foot or 1.5 km of dirt road to the parking lot.

Argüeso Guided Tour

We'll be waiting for you at the Cantabrian settlement of Argüeso at the time of your choice for a very special guided tour of this open-air museum. A route to the past in which you'll discover the constructions and customs of the Iron Age.

We'll enter this enclosure surrounded by stone and wooden walls which houses seven huts, reminiscent of the way of life between the 7th and 1st centuries BC. Each of these dwellings is a replica of the fortified settlements of Barones, La Ulaña, Cildá and Monte Bernorio

We'll learn about the materials used to build these houses and we'll see exact reproductions of falcatas swords, daggers, helmets, shields and belts of the period. In one of the huts we'll see more refined pieces of pottery due to the Celtiberian influence. Did you know that at least eight Roman legions had to act to defeat the Cantabrian tribes?

But that's not all, during the tour we'll admire a replica of the Zurita stele, a unique indigenous piece that has given rise to dozens of hypotheses. If you want to know what they are, don't miss the guide's explanations.

Timetables

The guided tours have no fixed timetable, they are circular tours. When you arrive, you'll be able to listen to the guide's explanations. The opening hours of the Cantabrian Village of Argüeso are as follows:
